Welcome to YMCA Essex
YMCA Essex is an inclusive Christian charity rooted in local communities and working with people of all faiths and people of none to meet the needs of children, young people and their families, and supporting them so they can develop and grow and achieve their goals in life.
What we do
Our Childcare Services includes a nursery for babies – 5 year olds, Breakfast and Out of School Clubs and Holiday Clubs.
Our Youth Services includes youth clubs designed to help young people make new friends and have lots of fun! The groups run every day of the week in different areas of Essex, including Chelmsford and Colchester.
Our Housing Services consists of a 44-room supported housing unit in Colchester. We house young people aged 16-25 for up to two years.

The Mayor of Chelmsford’s Charity Ball: Saturday 11 May
A fabulous fundraising gala, The Mayor’s Ball will be taking place on Saturday 11 May at 7pm, hosted at Chelmsford City Football Club. Tickets cost £60 each or £430 for a table of 8 and includes a champagne reception with canapés, sparkling entertainment and a luxury two-course dinner. Book your place via Eventbrite here
The Great Moustache Run: Saturday 27 April
Join us as part of Chelmsford parkrun for the Great Moustache Run in association with the Mayor of Chelmsford – moustaches obligatory! and finish the 5k course. Join hundreds of people and fundraise for YMCA Essex whilst registering for parkrun and getting your result certified! New City Voices and Men2Sing Concert: Saturday 20 April

High Sheriffs’ Shield
On Wednesday 6 March 2024 we attended the High Sheriff Awards and were awarded the High Sheriffs’ Shield for outstanding contribution to community safety. A very special and proud moment for us all.

The announcement was made at the Annual Full Council Meeting on Wednesday 24 May 2023.
